Living in Bangkok is all about living the dream… doing what everyone wants to do. Piss off all responsibility and go live where the sex never ends, where the flawless brown skinned beauties are throwing themselves at your feet every hour of every day.
Or is it?
Bangkok can be like that, but reality intrudes as well.
When I was here on holiday I had a seemingly endless supply of cash. The bank account in Australia was full of Ozzie dollars, and the price of dinner in Sydney paid for a full day of drinks and sex with the local girls. It was heaven.
But living and working here — at least in my case — is a different matter. I spend most days working, and most nights I have to think about getting to bed at a decent hour so that I can wake up shortly after sunrise so I can get to work on time. In short, life isn’t a lot different than it was back in Oz or America, but it’s a far cry from being here on holiday.
Of course, I do enjoy the girls. I definitely enjoy the girls. But not the unlimited, three-a-day sex marathons that I enjoyed on holiday. The budget these days covers a couple of romps per week, and my tastes run to the routine. I like seeing the same girls again and again.
So, these days life in Thailand is a bit tame for me.
Even more so in the last few days before payday.
This month I had a contract cancel on me unexpectedly which cost me about 20,000 baht in cash flow in the past three weeks. (To put that in perspective, that’s 25 Star of Light bare back blow jobs, or ten long-time sessions with my favorite girl).
The problem was that I’d already spent the money. So for the past ten days or so I’ve been watching my cash. This doesn’t mean that I’ve been completely celibate by any means.
I hit Star of Light for a blowie about ten days ago, and I had a girl here for long-time on Wednesday and Friday this week — three pops for me and a half dozen orgasms for her each time. But by the weekend I was facing two days off with only a handful of baht in my pocket ahead of my Monday payday.
So, Saturday and Sunday in Bangkok what’d I do??? I never left my room. I did my laundry, scrubbed the bathroom clean, vacuumed, and organized my file drawers. And I watched a lot of TV. Oh yeah… I took several naps.
It reminded me of the old Eric Heatherly song:
Countin’ flowers on the wall,
That don’t bother me at all.
Playing Solitaire till dawn,
With a deck of fifty-one.
Smoking cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo.
Now, don’t tell me I’ve nothing to do.
Living in Bangkok can be unbelievable fun, but it isn’t the same as being on holiday here. Not every day is a sex festival… at least not if you have to hold down a full time job and live on a budget.
Payday is about 9 hours away. I’ve already got a girl lined up for a long time on Wednesday night (because Thursday is a day off).
Life doesn’t suck by any means, but it’s a hell of a lot different than a fifteen day holiday. It’s not all beer & sex… real life intrudes.

The old Eric Heatherly song ?
“Flowers on the wall” was a big hit in 1965 by the Statler Brothers (a Virginia quartet) reaching # 4 on the Billboard U.S Top 40 chart.
A great song. I love it. Readily available on P2P file sharing.

Dude, it’s a joke.
The Statler Brothers made the song famous and a young guy named Eric Heatherly recently covered it as his initial foray into the professional music world.
